MGV Pharmacy College: Nurturing Future Pharmacists to Excellence

Today it’s an excellent center for studying and provides multidisciplinary courses, like the B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmacy, and Pharm D, as well as a center for Ph. D in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

After Independence, illiteracy was a major problem faced by the country in which Hon. Karmveer Bhausaheb Hiray made a revolutionary contribution by bringing education to all tribal, rural, and urban people.

Late Hon. Karamveer Bhausaheb Hiray was a righteous freedom fighter and educationalist who founded the Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir trust, which had its beginning in 1952, followed by the establishment of Adivasi Seva Samiti, founded in 1945, with devotional moto BAHUJAN HITAY BAHUJAN SUKHAYA (benefit and happiness to one and all) which directs providing education to tribal students as well as the large part of society.

Presently, the trust is working under Dr. Apoorva Prashant Hiray, Chairman of the trust.

The foundation of Pharmaceutical Science began with the establishment of MGV’s Institute of Industrial and Pharmaceutical technology in 1972, followed by the Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1993 and the Master of Pharmacy in 2005 at MGV’s Pharmacy College.

MGV trust works towards providing education to all people in society, including the unprivileged. Inculcating morals and ethics in individuals which would make them ready as better citizens.

Today it’s an excellent center for studying and provides multidisciplinary courses, like the bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy, and Pharm D, as well as a center for Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Currently, Dr. R.S. Bhambar is the principal of the college. The college is blessed with great teaching staff with excellent experience in industry and teaching.

The college is one of the top pharmacy colleges in Nashik and is located in the heart of the city, Panchavati. Nashik city is known for its pilgrimage place with temples situated on the bank of river Godavari. Nashik has comparatively low levels of pollution and is known as a Green city with an excellent environment to live in.

The college has separate labs for each department, like Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacognosy, as well as computer labs. It has a large library collection with digital access and e-books.

It is the only college in Nashik with an Animal House, which is essentially required for Research in the Pharmacology department.
Ayurveda students visited the animal house facility and instrument room.

This makes the institute ideal for carrying out research and analysis, thus making it highly suitable for the center of Ph.D. Also, it is highly equipped with a Spectrophotometer, HPLC, HPTLC, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Plethysmometer, Gas Chromatography, Tablet press machine, Hot air ovens, etc. with all chemical and analytical requirements.

Apart from this, co-curricular activities are actively conducted in college at multi-levels. One of them is NPW i.e National Pharmacy Week by the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, where students from all Pharmacy colleges come together and participate in a number of competitions.

Industrial visits, hospital visits, and donation camps are some of the various activities conducted by the institute. Fresher’s Party is celebrated for every upcoming new batch of the college and Cultural days are celebrated too. For the year 2022, the Festivista event was organized by the student council where cultural days were celebrated.

The Alumni Association at MGV’s pharmacy college builds strong bonds between the industry and the college. It conducts guest lectures by industrial experts, campus placements, and felicitation programs for meritorious students.

Every year B. Pharm graduates appear for the Graduate pharmacy aptitude test (GPAT) for post-graduation, and the students getting qualified are felicitated. An in-house talk is conducted among the students for GPAT preparation. Accommodation and life at MGV are wonderful. One can easily adapt to living in Nashik city.
