As a medico myself, I’d like to stress on the fact that honestly, it’s not a piece of cake. It’s hard work, determination and most important of all patience that does the job. We have to have a whole lot of patience to get through this degree. I’ve seen a lot of my friends graduate through years, a few of them chasing their dream jobs, getting married, all these while I’ve not yet completed my undergraduate grad. It’s a lot to handle. But if you have the patience to walk through it all, at the end of the day you have a beautiful and respected position. So, what I’d like to say is that, walk through it, you’ll find yourself at the end of the road or maybe you’ll find a different road.

As an foreign medical student, I believe that the institution where you study doesn't determine your success; rather, it's the depth of knowledge you acquire. However, the quality of education provided by the college does make a difference. Attending a college with excellent faculty can bridge the gap between FMGE candidates and Indian medical students.

Embracing active learning is essential for future MBBS students to optimize their understanding and retention of complex medical concepts. Active learning techniques involve engaging with the material rather than passively receiving it. This can include practices such as problem-solving exercises, group discussions, case-based learning, and hands-on experiences in clinical settings. By actively participating in their learning process, students not only deepen their understanding but also develop critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills essential for their future careers as healthcare professionals.

To maintain perspective, students can cultivate gratitude, reflect on their achievements, and seek support from peers, mentors, or mental health professionals when needed. It's also important to prioritize self-care, set realistic expectations, and celebrate small victories along the way.
