NMC Issues Final Notice to All Medical Institutions to Update Faculty Details

Dr. Siddiqua Parveen, PharmD

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has submitted an official public notice on the 23rd of July in regard to the matter of impersonation of attendance in several medical institutions. In the notice, the NMC has mentioned that they found that in some medical institutions, faculties were using fake fingerprints to mark their attendance in the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS). The NMC warned of serious action if they found any impersonation and asked all the faculty members to mark their attendance personally in the AEBAS, which is directly connected to the NMC.

In another notice released on the 24th of July under NMC, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has asked all the medical institutions to update the faculty details on the website. Further providing details, the NMC has asked that a separate list of faculty under each department must be present, and if the medical superintendent, dean, and principal belong to any department, then they must also be included. The list must include details like the complete name of the faculty, recent photo, educational qualification, current designation, and registration number as issued by the respective state medical council. The names in the list must correlate with the names in the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) of the respective medical institutions. The faculty list is to be updated by the 31st of July. Every month the list should be updated, and the deadline will be the last day of every month. Any incorrect, incomplete data or late submissions might lead to action against the medical institution involved.
