While there are many ways to care for your body, did you know there are also ways to care for your mind? Maintaining a healthy mental state aids in managing other medical conditions that are impacted by stressors.
Dr. Anjali Singh from MedBound Times had an educational session with Psychiatrist Dr. Rashi Agarwal about ways to practice good mental health and keep a check on it.
Dr. Rashi Agarwal, MBBS, MD (Psychiatry), is a psychiatrist, mental health expert, and educator, who dispels misconceptions and myths about mental health online and in person and is currently practicing in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Here are six tips by Dr. Rashi Agarwal to keep mental health in check, which will boost your mood and help improve the quality of your life.
1) Get Quality Sleep-
Sleep should be prioritized by the younger generation; make sleep your best friend. Without a decent night's sleep, which serves as the body's equivalent of a reboot, it is impossible to operate both physically and intellectually. Maintaining good mental health can be greatly aided by creating a sleep hygiene plan.
2) Exercise Regularly
Any form of exercise, for fifteen to thirty minutes, keeps the body and the mind in good working order.
3) Savor nutrient rich soul food
Eating healthy doesn't always include abstaining from fast food or cheat meals. I don't believe in cheat meals, but I do think that people should savor nutrient-rich soul food that makes them happy.
4) Establish healthy work-life balance
Over time, maintaining a healthy work-life balance and a smooth flow is beneficial to our mental health.
5) Establish healthy boundaries
Establishing boundaries and cutting out people from your life if they are upsetting your mental health should be normalized. Get comfortable saying "no" when necessary.
6) Introspect and self-reflect
Taking some time to sit by oneself and reflect on one's own thoughts and emotions is crucial in a world where we are all caught up in a frantic rat race.
