Stroke remains a pressing global health concern, ranking as the second leading cause of death and third leading cause of disability worldwide. The alarming statistics reveal that approximately 1.8 million individuals are afflicted by stroke annually. In response to this critical issue, DEPwD launched nationwide awareness programs aimed at mitigating the devastating impact of stroke and promoting timely intervention.

In Kolkata, the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILD) organized interactive street plays and awareness sessions to educate the community about stroke prevention and management. During these informative sessions, healthcare experts shared valuable insights on recognizing stroke symptoms, understanding risk factors, and adopting preventive measures, empowering citizens with knowledge to combat this debilitating condition.

The Composite Regional Center (CRC) in Nellore hosted a comprehensive awareness session on World Stroke Day, shedding light on the condition's causes, consequences, and crucial importance of timely intervention. Healthcare experts emphasized that prompt response and appropriate treatment can significantly improve survival rates and outcomes. Furthermore, the CRC showcased its range of services designed to support individuals affected by stroke, ensuring attendees were informed about available resources.

In addition to Nellore, CRCs in Kullu, Bolangir, Rajnandgaon, and various other locations across the country also hosted awareness programs. These initiatives aimed to educate the public on identifying early warning signs of stroke and emphasizing the critical importance of seeking immediate medical attention. By spreading awareness about timely intervention, these CRCs strove to empower communities to take action against stroke.

The DEPwD endeavors to enhance public awareness about stroke through its comprehensive initiatives. By educating individuals on stroke prevention, symptoms, and timely intervention, DEPwD seeks to substantially mitigate stroke-related risks. Through its World Stroke Day programs, the department reinforces its dedication to empowering citizens with knowledge, fostering a community that is informed, vigilant, and equipped to combat the devastating effects of stroke.
