What do you do?

I am currently working as a General Duty Medical Officer in Nankhari, Himachal Pradesh.

What’s the best part of your profession? What made you choose this profession?

The best part is the way in which we get to experience life. I’m currently working in a small village, so the kind of experiences that I’ve had with my patients really take the cake. Back in medical school, the kind of patients that we treated were different, but when I started practicing in a peripheral area, it kind of changed my whole clinical experience because the problems that the people face here are way different from the ones that people from metropolitan areas face. It's a whole new learning experience per se (way different from what they taught us back in medical school), and to be honest, it’s frustrating sometimes, but it actually also teaches you a lot about life and people in general. Also, everyone kind of knows you, so you’re treated like a celebrity.

Do you like reading? What was the last thing you read?

I love reading. You can never be lonely in the company of a good book. I’m currently reading “The Brothers Karamazov.”

What is your favourite dish?

Home-made Himachali cuisines.

How would your friends describe you?

It depends on what side they’ve seen. But it’s generally funny, creative, kind, paranoid, outspoken, and honest.

What sports did you play growing up?

Badminton

Your favourite subject(s)?

Psychiatry, Medicine.

What is your least favourite subject(s)?

Anatomy, Obstetrics, and Gynecology.

What’s something you wish to change about the world?

I guess people and the evil that resides in them. The world would be a better place if people were kinder, more empathetic, and more responsible.

If your journey was/were a movie, what would it be called?

One Day At A Time

What are you passionate about?

Literature, music, Indian classical dancing, and cinematic art.

Best/memorable moment

When I graduated.

What do you love to do in your leisure time?

Watch movies, read, and listen to some music.

What do you hate the most?

When patients tell me what to do and try to act smart by googling their symptoms.

If given a choice, what alternate career would you have opted for?

I would love to be a professional Bharatnatyam dancer.

What is your dream travel destination?

Japan and Turkey

Where and what kind of workplace would you like to work in the future?

Anywhere.
Where one would get to do a 9–5 job so that you can go home and do whatever you want, and no one calls or bothers you. Also, your co-workers would not pester you and mind their own business.

Finally, a Quote you relate to.

The problem is not that there is evil in the world. The problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care? -  V. M. Varga (Fargo, TV series)

What else would you like to tell about yourself?

I’m a big hypochondriac. That’s my biggest woe.
