  1. What do you do?

    I am a doctor.

  2. Do you like reading? What was the last thing you read?

Yes, I am passionate about reading books. The last books I read were "Tantric Visions of Divine Feminine: The Ten Mahavidyas" by David Kinsley and "Think Again" by Adam Grant.

  3. What is your favorite dish?

I have a few favorite dishes, including Kadhi Chawal, Masala Dosa, Jalebi, and Gulab Jamun.

  4. How would your friend describe you?

My friends would describe me as a lazy boy who can sleep for 24 hours without a break. They trust me and often seek my advice.

  5. Who would you like to travel with?

    Family

  6. What is your least favourite subject(s)?

My least favorite subject is Ophthalmology, as I have had difficulty understanding it.

  7. What is your favorite subject?

My favorite subjects are Medicine, Neurology, and Psychiatry. Specifically, I am interested in areas such as Sexual Medicine, Neuropsychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

  8. What’s something you wish to change about the world?

Rather than trying to change the world, I focus on changing myself and making positive contributions. I want to return the love, empathy, and support that was given to me when I had nothing. Additionally, I aim to help aspiring individuals whose dreams have been hindered by financial constraints or family issues.

  9. If your journey were a movie, what would it be called?

My journey has elements that resonate with movies like DDLJ, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Bahubali, Iqbal, and MS Dhoni. Coming from a small town like Buxar in Bihar, where parents often have limited dreams for their children, such as becoming a bureaucrat, doctor, or engineer, it can be challenging to gain respect if you pursue a different path. People like us start from a negative perception, rather than starting from scratch. Currently, I cannot recall a specific movie that entirely resembles my journey.

  10. What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about reading, politics, and playing badminton.

  11. Best/memorable moment?

When I got selected in MBBS after a 3-year gap, it was a significant moment for me. If I hadn't cleared the exam, I might not have attempted it again. It was my final attempt, considering my patience, energy, and ego. My father, along with the cyber cafe owner, checked my rank multiple times on the computer because he couldn't believe it. When my father informed me about the result, my mother, Pramila Pandey, and I were overcome with tears of joy. I became the first person in my family to pursue MBBS.

  12. What do you love to do in your leisure time?

Though I currently have limited leisure time, I enjoy watching web series, playing badminton, and chess.

  13. What do you hate the most?

    I dislike my own laziness.

  14. If given a choice, what alternate career would you have opted for?

If given a choice, I would have considered a career as an IAS officer or a politician. Alternatively, I might have pursued a career as a lawyer, specifically in the Supreme Court.

  15. What is your dream travel destination?

My dream travel destination is Kedarnath and Badrinath.

  16. Where would you like to work in the future?

I am currently preparing for the MRCPSYCH exam, and based on the outcome, I will decide where I would like to work in the future.

  17. Finally, a quote you relate to:"

I relate to several quotes, but a few that resonate with me are: "Arise, awake, and do not stop until the goal is reached" by Swami Vivekananda,

"Jab tak todenge nahi, tab tak chhodenge nahi" from the movie Manjhi: The Mountain Man,

"Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value" by Albert Einstein.

    विद्वत्वं च नृपत्वं च नैव तुल्यं कदाचन !
    स्वदेशे पूज्यते राजा विद्वान् सर्वत्र पूज्यते !!

  18. What else would you like to say about yourself?

I am a simple common man who believes in the supremacy of my father (JK Pandey) and mother (Pramila Pandey), the theory of one woman's love (my wife, Gitanjali Pandey), nationalism, Indian culture and values, and being a foodie. I also hold deep respect for democracy. My goal as a doctor is to create an environment of trust and empathy for my patients, just as my father wanted for me when I was in 8th grade.
