25-Year-Old Man Dies After Taking Water Slide at Noida’s Mall

The deceased is identified as 25-year-old Dhananjay Maheshwari.

A 25-year-old man died on Sunday after taking a slide at a water park at Great India Place Mall in Noida.

The deceased is identified as 25-year-old Dhananjay Maheshwari. He lived in Adarsh Nagar, Shivaji Road Extension in Delhi. On Sunday afternoon Dhananjay Maheshwari, along with his four friends, visited the water park at the Great India Place Mall in sector 38A under sector 39 police station limits.

After using the water slide, Dhananjay Maheshwari complained of having difficulty breathing, and he sat down for a while. In a short time, he collapsed, and the mall authorities rushed him to Kailash Hospital. The doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead.

Police reached the mall and hospital after receiving the information and initiated an inquiry into the incident. Dhananjay Maheshwari’s body was sent for an autopsy.

A police spokesperson said that after collecting costumes and keeping their possessions in lockers, all the friends went directly to the slide, they arrived one by one and started sliding when Maheshwari suddenly started having trouble breathing. He also said that Maheshwari perched on the ground to take rest but not feeling any better, he was taken to nearby Kailash hospital by an ambulance of GIP Mall authorities, where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Manish Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida, said that shortly after the incident Maheshwari family members reached Noida, and the body was sent for post-mortem.

Parveen Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner of Noida, said that they have talked with water park management and Dhananjay's family, and the CCTV footage of the water park is also being examined, and further action is in progress.

ADCP Manish Mishra said that they have initiated legal proceedings, and the body has been sent for autopsy, after which the reason could be confirmed. He also said that on the family allegation of negligence on the part of the mall’s management the claims are being investigated.
