26-Year-Old Doctor Dies While Taking Delhi Metro; Heart Issue Suspected

A tragic incident occurred in the Delhi metro; a young doctor lost his life within seconds, probably due to a cardiac arrest.

A tragic incident occurred in the Delhi metro; a young doctor lost his life within seconds, probably due to a cardiac arrest. The incident happened in front of a crowd inside the metro train near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station. This shocking incident occurred on Saturday.

The student was traveling to Kashmere Gate ISBT from Ballabhgarh through the Delhi Metro. He suddenly collapsed inside the metro. Regrettably, he couldn't be saved despite being taken out of the metro at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station and rushed to the nearby hospital.

The deceased, Dr. Mayank Garg, was a 26-year-old young doctor. He was an MBBS student at Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital in Wardha, Maharashtra. He was from the Nuh district of Haryana. Dr. Mayank came to Delhi, and from there he was going to Panchkula to give an examination.

The examination was on December 9, 2023. He boarded the metro for the same. He boarded his metro train from Ballabhgarh and died before reaching Kashmere Gate ISBT. The crowd inside the train informed the metro authorities after they saw the doctor fall inside the train. According to the officials of the metro train, CPR was given to the doctor by an unknown person on the train before he was taken out.

The station controller reached the platform as they got reports about the incident. Then the doctor was taken out of the train with the help of security personnel. Immediately, they transferred him to the nearest hospital, Moolchand, where he was pronounced dead by the doctors.

Anuj Dayal, principal executive director of corporate communications at DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation), said that the medical emergency was reported at 5:54 p.m. The station controller immediately reached the platform, and the unconscious doctor was evacuated with assistance from security staff and passengers.

DMRC said in a statement that the station controller immediately sent the passenger to Moolchand Hospital at 6 p.m., accompanied by a colleague and a customer facilitation agent from Delhi Metro, where he was declared dead.

Dr. Mayank has two sisters and an older brother. According to India Post, Dr. Mayank had no health issues and was fit and fine. But still, he had a sudden heart attack, and it became lethal. Due to his sudden demise, a mountain of grief has fallen on the Garg family. His desire to serve patients remained incomplete.
