NEET Aspirant Gang-Raped by Classmates in Kota

ASP Uma Sharma said that a month ago the girl met one of the accused, who is also a NEET aspirant from Uttar Pradesh on social media.

A 16-year-old girl, who is preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Kota, Rajasthan was gang-raped by four students in Kota’s Kunhadi area. The police have apprehended all the four accused.

According to the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Uma Sharma Of Kota Women Harassment Cell, the incident happened on February 10, Saturday. The girl is a resident of Gurugram in Haryana, she has been staying in the hostel in Kota, Rajasthan for more than a year to prepare for the medical entrance exam NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) from a recognized coaching center.

ASP Uma Sharma said that a month ago the girl met one of the accused, who is also a NEET aspirant from Uttar Pradesh on social media. On Saturday, the accused invited the girl to his flat on some pretext. The flat is reportedly located in Kota’s landmark area. He also called three of his friends, and when the girl reached his flat, all of them raped her.

The accused are in the age group of 18-29 years and they were also NEET aspirants, who were studying at another coaching centre in Kota. Shocked by the incident the girl did not report the crime to the police and she has gone into depression. Her condition was noticed by her friends and they took her to a counselor. The entire incident was revealed during the counselling session. A case was booked on Tuesday, February 13 and the police arrested all four accused from the flat of the main accused. The accused belongs to the states of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

The accused were arrested under section 376 D (gang rape) and section 376 (rape) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and provision of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act.

ACP also said that a medical examination of the survivor was also conducted, and she is undergoing psychological counseling. A probe is underway.
