A video from AIIMS Rishikesh has gone viral, showing a senior doctor allegedly slapping a female nurse during a heated argument at the institute's trauma center. The incident, which took place on June 15, Sunday evening, has sparked outrage among internet users and led to the doctor’s suspension.

The video shows a tense conflict between the doctor and the nurse, escalating into a physical altercation. The doctor is seen trying to hit the nurse but is stopped by other staff members. The nurse, shocked by the doctor's behavior, calls him 'Badtameez' (insolent). The footage has provoked a strong reaction online, with many people condemning the doctor's actions and calling for strict action against him.

Authorities quickly responded to the viral video by suspending the doctor. Section 334 (voluntarily causing hurt on provocation), 323, 504 (intentional insult with purpose to cause breach of peace), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) are the laws under which a case has been filed against him at the Rishikesh police station.

The altercation happened at the trauma center of AIIMS Rishikesh, which was being prepared to treat victims of the Rudraprayag accident who were airlifted to the institute. The disagreement between the resident doctor and the nurse, whose reasons remain unknown, escalated quickly. Other nursing staff present managed to calm the situation, but not before someone recorded the incident and shared it on social media.

In the aftermath of the video’s release, the Nursing Professional Development Association (NPDA) has come out in strong support of the nurse. They have warned that a strike will begin from Sunday to Tuesday if no action is taken against the doctor. The NPDA held a silent protest outside the medical superintendent's office and submitted a memorandum to the acting director of the institute, signed by NPDA President Sanjeev Kumar Jangid and General Secretary Dinesh Luhar.

The public outrage over the doctor's behavior has highlighted the need for respect and proper treatment of nursing staff in medical institutions. The incident has not only led to the doctor's suspension but has also ignited discussions on social media about workplace behavior and the importance of maintaining professionalism, especially in high-pressure environments like hospitals.
