Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) in Gaya, Bihar, found a postgraduate medical student hanging from the ceiling fan in her dorm room on Sunday.
Dr. Vandana from Muzaffarpur has been identified as the deceased. She was a first-year postgraduate student in the Department of Gynecology.
When she failed to report for morning duty at the hospital, the incident came to light. Upon noticing her absence, her coworkers went to her room to see how she was doing. But the door was locked from the inside. The doctor did not answer even after repeated knocking. Then they broke through the door and discovered her lifeless body suspended from the ceiling.
Upon receiving information, the police arrived quickly and sent the deceased for a post-mortem. Since there was no suicide note discovered by the authorities throughout their inquiry, it is unknown why she took such a drastic step.
ANMMCH Principal Arjun Choudhary said, “We informed the police after coming to know about the incident in the morning. The police are probing it. We have informed the family of the deceased student about the sad occurrence."
Following information about the alleged suicide of a medical student, a police team, dog squad and forensic science laboratory team conducted an inspection at the spot. Footage from the CCTV cameras is also being reviewed to ascertain the real cause of death.Prerana Kumar, City Superintendent of Police, Gaya, Bihar
