A woman in labour; flooded streets and a doctor providing detailed instructions via a cell phone to guarantee a safe birth. According to health officials on Wednesday, the incident, which looked like a scene from the popular movie "3 Idiots," occurred recently in the Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh.

A midwife was assisted by a doctor over a cell phone when she was unable to get to a village because of flooded roads following heavy rainfall, according to reports.

The midwife, Reshna Vanshkar, was then instructed by Dr. Sirsam via phone to carry out the delivery of the "high-risk woman". (Representational image: Pixabay)

A team of health officials and district health officer Dr. Manisha Sirsam visited the area after learning of Raveena Uikey's condition, but they discovered that all of the approach roads were flooded, he added.

According to the official, Dr. Sirsam called Raveena Uikey's husband and urged him to call a qualified midwife from the village to their home when it became apparent that the team would not be able to reach the the village under any circumstances.

The midwife, Reshna Vanshkar, was then instructed by Dr. Sirsam via phone to carry out the delivery of the "high-risk woman". He claimed the midwife observed them religiously and made sure the two healthy twins were delivered without incident.

The mother and her newborn twins were brought to the district hospital once the water level dropped and the roads were safe for traffic. "The mother and her children are doing well," the health official stated.

However, the official remarked that the conditions in Seoni were a little more realistic than the engineering students utilizing a vacuum cleaner to conduct the delivery in the Amir Khan film "3 Idiots."
