The doctors who appeared for the National Eligibility Entrance Exam for Post graduation (NEET PG) have raised their doubts about the policy of normalization used for result generation. Several candidates, especially from the second shift of the exam have urged the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to release the answer key and details of the normalization system followed by them. Many students claim a discrepancy to have occurred between the score they calculated and the results that have been released by NBEMS.

Health activist Dr. Dhruv Chauhan has highlighted this concern on his social media pages and the news channels. The process till the exam conduction was chaotic and now the results have also kept many of the doctors feeling unsettled and confused.

Candidates are questioning that if ranks and percentile can be released then why the scores were being hidden from them. There are claims of foul play with the exam results due to the lack of transparency. Was the normalization of scores in both shifts of the exam done fairly? Is the normalization formula accurate to produce justice to the actual scores? These questions have stirred up a controversy.

Amidst this controversy, a student has also filed an RTI before NBEMS demanding the details of the centres chosen for the exam before after its postponement and details of how normalization was applied to the preparation of the results.

The ranks of the NEET PG Exam decide the future of these young doctors. There are going to be several candidates who might not get their dream branch of specialization if there has been a glitch in the result generation of this exam. NBEMS has been asked questions regarding the normalization process and clarity on scores and percentiles allotted. The admission process is expected to start soon and students are awaiting a response to settle the transparency concerns that have been cooking up in the minds of these candidates.
