Dogs kill baby after taking it from a hospital in Panipat

A newborn baby was taken away from the hospital bed and then killed by dogs. The sad and disturbing incident took place at a Heart and Mother care hospital in Panipat on June 25.

The baby was merely three days old. The dog sneaked into the general ward of the hospital when the infant was next to his sleeping mother. The grandmother and aunt were also sleeping in the ward. The dog grabbed the infant and mauled it to death.

The family noticed that the infant was missing at around 2:15 am. After searching for it, they found the dog in the vicinity holding the baby in its mouth. The infant was declared dead with dog-bite injuries all over it. Police said that the CCTV footage showed the dog grabbing the newborn and taking it out. The body was sent to a local civil hospital for an autopsy.

The fact that this incident happened in a private hospital makes it even more unfortunate. Private hospitals usually have more security than government hospitals. The hospital management has not responded to the allegations of negligence. The police have started an investigation on this issue. The family of the infant belonged to Kairana village in Uttar Pradesh. They had come to Panipat for delivery.

Police said that no one noticed the dog entering the hospital. Security negligence in hospitals continues to be an issue in India. There have been recurring cases of violence against doctors and healthcare workers. However, this particular incident shows poor security surfacing its ugly head.
