A first-year MBBS student at Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday for allegedly assisting in the solution of the stolen question paper related to the NEET-UG paper leak. The CBI interrogated Surbhi Kumari, a first-year student, in-depth for two days before placing her under arrest.
According to officials, Kumari was allegedly the fifth person in the "solver module" that arrived in Hazaribagh early on May 5, the day of the NEET-UG exam, in order to solve the paper that Pankaj Kumar had stolen.
Earlier this week, the CBI had requested to speak with RIMS, an independent organization under the Jharkhand government.
Surender Kumar, a resident of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, was also taken into custody by the central probe agency. Pankaj claimed that Kumar assisted him in stealing the question paper.

The NEET-UG paper was allegedly stolen from the NTA trunk in Hazaribagh by Pankaj Kumar, also known as Aditya, a civil engineer from the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) class of 2017. The CB discovered throughout its investigation that the question paper had to be solved by seven different persons. These 7 people had about forty-five minutes to answer 25 questions each.
To date, the CBI has arrested up to five members of the "solver module."
Sixteen people have been taken into custody by the CBI in relation to the NEET-UG paper leak case.
