How Do You Handle Failures?

Failures are always looked down upon by many of us, but there's a bright side to each failure, which is that we can rectify the events that led to it!

Failure can either be the fuel for improvement that ultimately leads to success or the fuel for regret and disappointment that keeps many of us stuck in the past! As humans, we tend to ponder upon "what could have been" a lot more than admitting what the reality is. Often, this leads to a lot of stress and can be a reason to develop certain disorders like anxiety.

There are many ways we can handle failures.

Failures are always looked down upon by many of us, but there's a bright side to each failure, which is that we can rectify the events that led to it!

We collected various views on how people handled their failures:

How I deal with failures, First foremost what we need to realize is that "Its impossible to live without failures." Failure is the key that opens the door to success. Failure seems to be scary, tough to accept and it makes us emotionally and mentally exhausted. But we must convert failures into a challenge. Exhale all the negativities present and take further action that leads to success. Just keeping our mindsets calm and accepting the fact that failures are common in all. - Daya Sunil, Xth Standard, St. Mary's Residential School, Kollam, Kerala.

Failure doesn't necessarily have to be the last step to anything in fact it has always been and always will be the first step towards a new beginning with a beautiful destination. Life has always been like that. We overcome unexpected turns which we endure through our year but we always develop the right skills to move on from what knocked us down. It is all about dusting ourselves up than staying down - Nikhil Rajeevan, Medical student, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv

Failure doesn't necessarily have to be the last step to anything in fact it has always been and always will be the first step towards a new beginning with a beautiful destination.

As a medical student, we all come across failures, it is not possible to stay away from them, we can't avoid them because it is a necessity for growth. I had always felt I learned better from mistakes rather than something I succeeded at. We tend to put in more effort when things don't go our way. - Lakshmy Shankar, Medical student, Believer's Medical College, Kottayam, Kerala

Reflecting on one's mistake is one of the stepping stones in recognizing where we went wrong. After doing so we can further decide on what steps to take that will lead us to the right direction. - Dr. Munish Raizada, MD, FAAP, USA

I try to find the reason but before that, I blabber to myself. I work on the mistakes after finding them. And I think every failure comes with a lifelong lesson. But it should not be due to your improper planning or laziness. - Himani Negi, Copy Editor at Medbound Times

I would 1st like to distract myself from the failure. Once my mind is calm then I would find out my mistake. Try to learn from it and make changes depending upon the mistake. My optimistic attitude helps me to get some hope again after failure. I am stubborn and I don't like to give up easily. But sometimes depending upon the type of failure it might take more time to come back but it's always worth the hard work!!

It's good to fail sometimes. We learn a lot from it so that we do not make the same mistakes again when some big things come up in life. - Lalitha Lavanya Shree, Medical student, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv,  Ukraine

"We fail, we are sometimes knocked down so many times that we might find it very difficult to stand back on our feet. But with a system as good as your goal, no dream is that big, no goal is that far, and it is all attainable." -Gowri Nandana S., Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv,  Ukraine
