According to officials on Wednesday, the ICMR began work on the National Health Research Priority Project with the goal of creating advanced emergency care systems that include providing patients with heart attacks or brain strokes with immediate treatment. According to them, the project would be implemented as a pilot in five locations: Puri (Odisha), Vidisha (Madhya Pradesh), Vadodara (Gujarat), and Pondicherry.

They added that in order to resolve the project's modalities, a three-day national consultation conference including the stakeholders was held at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.

Following the conference, which ended on Tuesday, the project work was formally began in Puri. The project will be funded by ICMR; AIIMS-Bhubaneswar will offer technical support; and the state government will handle manpower and logistics.

According to Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, the project's goals are to improve emergency care through mapping facilities, integrating IT and AI tools, increasing healthcare professional abilities and optimizing logistics.

According to him, the project's main elements include developing community demand, enhancing ambulance services, and educating first-level responders.

"The project will address seven critical emergencies -- heart attack, brain stroke, trauma, snake bite, poisoning, respiratory emergencies, and neonatal and maternal emergencies," he added.

In collaboration with the state government, a research team headed by doctor Arvind Kumar Singh, additional professor at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, has been formed to develop and execute this concept, according to officials.
