In a tragic incident, a junior doctor died after falling from the third floor of Hostel Number 4 at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Jharkhand. The incident took place on Monday, as confirmed by the police. Along with him, a female companion also fell and is currently in critical condition. According to initial reports, the case appears to be a suicide attempt.

The deceased, whose identity is yet to be disclosed by authorities, was residing on the RIMS campus as part of his medical studies. His companion, a female friend, also sustained serious injuries in the fall and is now undergoing intensive treatment at the hospital.

Police sources have stated that the initial investigation points towards suicide, but further inquiries are underway to uncover more details surrounding the event. “Prima facie, it seems like a suicide case,” a police officer informed news agency ANI. They are also probing whether there were any external circumstances or pressures that could have led to the tragedy.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the medical fraternity and student community at RIMS. Hostel Number 4, where the incident occurred, is home to many students pursuing medical degrees. Fellow students expressed deep sorrow and concern, noting that mental health issues are often overlooked within the pressures of medical education.

Authorities have stated that they will also be speaking with family members and close friends of both individuals involved. Campus security has been alerted, and the administration is working closely with the police during the investigation.

This tragic episode has once again raised questions about mental health awareness among students and the need for timely intervention. With the woman’s condition still critical, doctors at RIMS are monitoring her closely, hoping for her recovery.

The police are expected to release further updates after collecting more evidence and statements from witnesses.
