Karnataka: Stinky Water Led to Discovery of Dead Body in Water Tank

They observed that the drinking water was stinky and complained to the gram panchayat on Friday.

A shocking incident happened in Bidar district where the villagers unknowingly consumed water from a water tank that was contaminated by a dead body.

The villagers of Anadur in Bidar district had been drinking water from a local water tank for several days. They observed that the drinking water was stinky and complained to the gram panchayat on Friday. When the villagers examined the water tank they were shocked to find a dead body floating in the drinking water tank.

According to the sources, the deceased is identified as a 27-year-old Raju Shailappa, who belongs to a nomadic tribe. Three days ago he allegedly died by suicide by jumping into a drinking water tank. Near the water tank bag and footwear of Raju were found. It is the same water tank that was supplied with drinking water to villagers in Anadur.

Narasamma, the mother of Raju, registered a police complaint at the Janawada police station. She said that Raju’s wife had gone to her parent's house and not returned for the last six months, which made him go into depression. On Wednesday morning Raju had left his residence.

Police are probing the case. The health officials are checking the health conditions of the villagers. To take the required measures a team of doctors from the health and family department reached the location. No one has been admitted to the hospital till now. The body was taken out of the water tank and handed over to the family after a post-mortem.
