Kolkata Doctor's Rape-Murder: Parents Inform CBI that Colleagues May be Engaged in the Crime

An officer stated on Friday (August 16, 2024) that the parents of the female doctor who was raped and killed inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 have informed the CBI that a few interns and doctors from the same medical hospital were involved in the crime.

The parents also gave the names of people they believe to be connected to their daughter's murder in the state-run hospital to the Central agency, which is looking into the matter in accordance with a Calcutta High Court rule.

"The parents told us that they suspect the involvement of multiple persons behind the sexual assault and murder of their daughter. They have given us names of a few interns and doctors working with their daughter at the RG Kar Hospital," the CBI officer stated.

According to the Central Agency officer, their primary objective was to question doctors and Kolkata police officers were involved in the probe.

"We have zeroed in on at least 30 names whom we will be calling for questioning. We have already started questioning them," he stated.

One house staff member and two post-graduate trainees (PGTs) who were working with the doctor that night when she was murdered were called by the CBI on Friday.

The Tala Police Station's officer-in-charge was already questioned by CBI officers on Thursday night.

On August 9, the post-graduate trainee's body was discovered in the seminar room of the RG Kar Hospital. In this regard, the police detained a civic volunteer the following day.

According to the source, the CBI brought the detained man to the hospital on Friday so that the crime scene could be rebuilt.
