In Kalyan, a parent allegedly followed the law when they gave their newborn daughter, who had congenital hormone imbalances, to a transgender group just seven days after she was born.

But there has been debate about this particular instance. Upon knowing of this development, the nurse at the hospital where the baby was born expressed her desire to raise the child and begged the parents to give her their child.

The nurse filed a police complaint after they refused.

According to the police, the transgender organization lawfully adopted the child with the family's consent, thus they are unable to put pressure on them to give the nurse custody of the child.

On June 29, at a private hospital in Kalyan, the couple, who live in the Titwala district of Kalyan, welcomed a baby girl. When the parents learned that their newborn had hormonal problems at birth, they started to worry about her future.

But when a hospital nurse learned of this circumstance, she expressed her desire to raise the girl. The nurse approached the nearby Titwala police after the girl's family refused to give her custody.

When the parents learned of the nurse's wish, they told the police that, by the time the nurse got in touch with them, they had already formally given the girl's custody to the transgender organization.
