Mainstreaming Ayush: Thousands of Ayush Doctors and Paramedics Deployed Across India

Engagement of Ayush doctors is supported at NHM, provided they need to co-locate with exciting District Hospitals (DHs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), and Primary Health Centres (PHCs).

The mainstreaming of Ayush has been taken up under NHM like 6612 PHC, 3035 CHC, 469 DH, and 2916 Sub-Center (SC). Likewise, 27,421 Ayush doctors and 4581 Ayush paramedics are in position.

The government is supporting the states in transforming Sub Health Centers and Primary health centers into health and wellness centers under Ayushman Bharat. This will create a Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) that will include preventive health care at community levels. Some facilities under this are SHC or Ayush dispensaries.

North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh has been established to promote Folk Healing Practices. It is involved in documenting and scientific validation of Ethnomedicinal practices. It is organizing camps for awareness among people.

Quality Council of India is certifying Traditional Community Healthcare Providers (TCHP) under the Voluntary Certification Scheme for Traditional Community Healthcare Providers (VCSTCHP).
