In a horrific event that occurred in Muchumarri village in Pagidyala mandal of Nandyal district in Andhra Pradesh, three school-age boys gang-raped and killed an eight-year-old girl.
The young girl's father filed a report with the Nandikotkur police claiming that his daughter, who was playing in the Muchumarri park, disappeared last Sunday.
Following a thorough search of Muchumarri that proved futile, the Nandikotkur police sent a dog squad to gather information about the missing girl and began talking to people.
Following a preliminary investigation, three young boys were taken into custody by the local police on suspicion and the boys admitted to the police that they gang-raped the girl and forced her into the nearby canal out of fear of being caught.
The young girl was enrolled in class 3 at the same school as the three minor boys, ages 12 to 13. They were in classes 6 and 7.
The girl was playing close to the Muchumarri park when the three boys noticed her on a Sunday evening. When they got close to the innocent girl, they led her to a remote area close to the Muchumarri project, where they gang-raped her.
Subsequently, the boys pushed the girl into the neighboring canal and fled the scene out of fear that she would report their act of gang rape to her parents and they would be in prison.
The three suspected young boys continued with their regular schedule, acting as though nothing had happened, even while the police investigation into the girl's disappearance continued for the previous three days. However, they soon found themselves inside the police's grasp.
After hearing about the horrible tragedy, Nandyal MLA G Jayasurya visited the crime scene and comforted the victim's parents and other family members.
He told the girl's parents that the accused would face harsh punishment and gave the police orders to speed up their search for the girl's body.
