In the midst of the ongoing outcry over the rape and murder of a post-graduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, relatives of a patient who passed away at Kolkata's SSKM hospital on Sunday damaged the trauma care unit, according to police.

The patient's relatives said that the incident happened when they arrived at the hospital, charged the medical staff of negligence, blamed the institution for their loved one's death, and angrily damaged the facility.

"His family members came to the hospital and started vandalising the area, alleging that negligence by doctors had led to the youth's death," a police official stated.
