Following a fight with her husband, the 6-year-old disabled youngster tragically lost his life when his 26-year-old mother allegedly pushed him into a river infested with crocodiles in Dandeli taluk, Uttara Kannada, Karnataka.

According to the police, the couple apparently had frequent arguments with one other over the condition of their older kid, who had been speech-impaired since birth.

Savitri reported to the police that his husband Ravi worked as a mason, used to bully her and threaten her to kill their son by throwing him into the canal.

"My spouse bears responsibility." He used to constantly tell me to let the son die because all he does is eat. Well, let him be. How much pain can my son have to go through if my husband keeps saying that? She said, "Where will I go to share my pain?"

Dandeli Rural Police Inspector Krishna Barakeri said, “Savitri allegedly threw her son into a waste canal linked to the crocodile-infested Kali river around 9 pm."

Sources claimed that he had told her to "throw the child away" several times.

After receiving a notice from the locals, police and fire personnel started a search. The child's body was found the following morning after the search continued all night. The child had been killed by a crocodile, as indicated by the bite marks all over the corpse and the missing right arm.

In relation to the event, the mother, Savitri, and her husband, Ravi Kumar, 27, have both been taken under arrest by the police. As per the police, the couple has another two-year-old son.

"We have registered a case at Dandeli Rural Police station under section 109 (Abetment of any offense, if the act abetted is committed in consequence, and where no express provision is made for its punishment) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested both husband and wife in connection with the incident," the officer said.
