National Health Mission Programs Reviewed By Union Minister of State

The meeting was conducted to assess the progress under AYUSH and the financial and physical progress under the national health mission

A meeting was conducted on the national health mission by the Union Minister of State, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, along with Shri Saurabh Jain, Joint Secretary, MoHFW; Shri Harsh Gupta, Principal Secretary Health, Karnataka; Dr. Naveen; Shri Ghanshyam Thori; and Shri Abhishek Tiwary (MDs NHM of Karnataka, Punjab, and West Bengal, respectively) and senior officials of the Union Health Ministry. Officers from the National Health Authority and the Ministry of Ayush were also present.

The meeting was conducted to assess the progress under AYUSH and the financial and physical progress under the national health mission of

  1. Infrastructure projects and human resources

  2. 15th Finance Commission

  3. Emergency Covid Response Package

  4. Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission

The 15th Finance Commission was set up to provide recommendations for decentralization of taxes and other matters. "Strengthening cooperative federalism, improving the quality of public spending, and helping protect fiscal stability" are the main tasks carried out by the commission.

Emergency Covid Response Package: This scheme was allocated to ensure that the state health systems are prepared for the prevention and management of diseases, with an emphasis on the development of health infrastructure, particularly pediatric care.

Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission: It focuses on strengthening the health systems and institutions at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, as well as preparing to respond to emergencies, pandemics, and disasters quickly in the present and future.

During the meeting, Union Minister of State, Shri Prataprao Jadhav

  1. Listened to the suggestions given by the states.

  2. Also asked the states to ensure efficient utilization of the funds under various schemes.

  3. Emphasized the states to comply with guidelines.

  4. Stressed the need to collaborate with the states to address the issues and develop effective strategies to improve healthcare services.

  5. He insisted that all the officers should work to achieve the NHM objectives for better health outcomes.

The objectives of NHM are:

  1. Child and maternal mortality reduction

  2. Safeguarding and management of communicable and non-communicable diseases

  3. Primary healthcare access

  4. Population stabilization, gender, and demographic balance

  5. To bring back local traditions and make AYUSH mainstream

  6. Universal access to services for food, nutrition, sanitation, hygiene, and public health care services. Special emphasis on women's and children's health services and immunization

  7. Encourage healthy lifestyles.
