New Delhi: On the occasion of the 9th Ayurveda Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate several healthcare projects amounting to Rs 12,850 crore on Tuesday. At approximately 12:30 PM, PM Modi will either launch or lay the foundation stones for multiple healthcare schemes that aim to improve health services across the country.
In a significant development, the Ayushman Bharat scheme will be expanded to provide coverage to senior citizens aged 70 years and above under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). This expansion is expected to ensure that elderly individuals, who are often vulnerable to health complications, receive the medical care they need without financial constraints. “I call upon all those passionate about health, fitness, and wellness to join tomorrow’s programme,” the Prime Minister announced through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The government’s official press statement highlighted that this initiative marks a historic moment, reflecting the government’s commitment to providing universal healthcare. With the inclusion of the elderly under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the coverage aims to address the growing healthcare needs of India’s aging population.
Another key initiative to be launched by PM Modi is the U-WIN portal, which will digitalize the vaccination process for pregnant women and infants. This new platform is designed to facilitate the timely administration of essential vaccines to protect against 12 preventable diseases. The U-WIN portal will ensure that vaccines are delivered to pregnant women and children up to the age of 16, helping streamline the vaccination process and enhance healthcare outcomes.
In addition, a nationwide campaign titled “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan” will be launched to promote health awareness across the country. The campaign aims to encourage citizens to adopt a proactive approach toward health and well-being, emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare.
These projects are part of the government’s broader efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and access to essential services. The expansion of healthcare coverage for senior citizens under Ayushman Bharat and the introduction of the U-WIN portal align with the government’s focus on equitable healthcare. By incorporating digital solutions and launching awareness campaigns, the initiatives also reflect a push toward modernizing the healthcare system.
With these new schemes, the government aims to ensure that vulnerable groups, including the elderly, pregnant women, and children, receive timely medical support. The launch of these projects on Ayurveda Day highlights the significance of integrating modern healthcare advancements with traditional knowledge to achieve a holistic approach to well-being.
