A father and his son were held by the police after they assaulted doctors due to an argument over a CT scan.  A case has been registered in Pimpri police station against the father and son for assaulting the doctors and obstructing government work.

At around 1 a.m., Riya Patil, Pranav Patil, and Sharman Arlen, victims of assault who suffered injuries, were brought by the accused, Norman Lirus Arlen (48) and Sharveen Norman Arlen (23), to the YCM Hospital. Three were treated by two resident doctors, Dr. Naresh Shivanand Anjanadevi and Dr. Atharva Kokaje, who are studying at the Postgraduate Institute of YCM Hospital.

Riya was then asked to undergo a CT scan. However, the patients demanded that they not do a CT scan. They claimed that the doctors gave them the MLC (Medico-legal Case) paper early and increased the number of injuries. Due to this, there was a clash between the two doctors and the accused.

The father-son duo, i.e., Norman Lirus Arlen and Sharveen Norman Arlen, beat and abused the two doctors. Also, they threatened that they were familiar with MLA. Police personnel working at YCM Hospital went to the spot as soon as they learned about this type of beating. They immediately took the accused duo into custody. The doctor also started beating the father-child in police custody. But the police intervened and stopped the doctor.

Following the incident, on Monday, nearly 120 resident doctors at the hospital went on strike, starting at 9.30 a.m., and demanded improved security at the hospital. (Representational Image: Unsplash)

The duo has been booked under Sections 353, 323, 504, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The doctor also started beating the father-child in police custody. But the police intervened and stopped the doctor. As soon as the police stopped them, the doctor rushed to the police and punched them. After that, two doctors were badly beaten up by the police on Sunday at midnight at YCM Hospital. A commotion ensued as doctors and police clashed with each other in the hospital. So, no complaint was registered in this matter.

Following the incident, on Monday, nearly 120 resident doctors at the hospital went on strike, starting at 9.30 a.m., and demanded improved security at the hospital. Dr. Anjanadevi has filed an FIR at the Pimpri police station in this matter.
