A Texas man miraculously recovered from septic shock which is caused by a rare bacterial infection. According to the doctors he just had a 4 percent chance of survival. His miraculous recovery went viral over social media after his sister shared his fight with sepsis.

The man is identified as 36-year-old Steven Spinale, a resident from Texas. In 2022, he developed a threatening blood infection which led to sepsis. The doctors said that he had just a 4 percent chance of survival rate and no brain activity. Then he was put in a medically induced coma. However, he faced all the struggles and recovered from the infection.

Michelle, Steven's sister, shared videos on TikTok expressing how her brother recovered from a bacterial infection that contracted in 2022. She also shared on a GoFundMe page that her brother had been pretty sick for at least a month. The doctors were not able to figure out what was wrong with him, though they mentioned that he was internally bleeding from somewhere. The doctors said that Steven's infection caused sepsis, a serious condition.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), sepsis is a serious condition that occurs when the body's immune system has an extreme response to an infection. The extreme response causes damage to its own tissues and organs. It can affect anyone but the highest risk is on the very young, pregnant, older, and people with other health problems.

Michelle explained that his brother declined fast and by mid-October he was put on life support. His organs are shutting down due to septic shock caused by a rare bacterial infection. In the videos, she also said that he suffered a stroke, massive blood clots in his legs and heart chambers, pneumonia, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. To treat severe respiratory failure he was put on RotoProne bed. The infection reached his heart and he underwent an open heart surgery. For the surgery, he was brought out from a coma and intubated for 36 hours and to close his wound he also underwent a second surgery.

Doctors said that he had a 4 percent chance of survival and had no brain activity but, Michelle said that they never lost hope and her family stayed strong for him. With time, he woke up from the coma after 3 weeks and recovered slowly. Michelle shared all the updates regarding his recovery process of undergoing physical therapy and walking with help around his home.

The doctors said that Steven suffered a bacterial infection which is caused by the ingrown hair, intensifying rapidly into septic shock which led to blood clots, pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and organ failure. The bacterial infection reached his heart and caused serious damage.

The common symptoms of sepsis include Fever, fast heart rate, rapid breathing, confusion, and body pain. It can usher to septic shock, multiple organ failure, and death. Generally, sepsis is caused by bacteria but it can also be caused by other infections such as viruses, parasites, or fungi. The treatment for sepsis involves medical care that includes antimicrobials, intravenous (IV) fluids, and attentive surveillance.
