The Never Ending Struggle of Life

We learn and practice for years to perfect our skills and the struggle continues...

Dr. Darshit Jagdish Patel

What do Human beings do? What is the purpose of human existence? Some say it's to live and to let others live, some say that it's peace and harmony, the good old-fashioned brotherhood, companionship, and mercy. Humans spend a huge amount of time and money on learning. Some learn and practice for years to perfect their skills, just to work on somebody else’s ideas, and some try hard to invent something new while thinking that it is their idea and nobody must have thought about it. But the reality is often such that the person living on the streets, a person who has lost everything to a calamity must have had more innovative ideas, if not the resources and funds as compared to the ones working in the laboratories. Maybe, experience and suffering are the best teachers.

Humans read books about Mythology, philosophy, politics, art, and literature, for what? Is it so that you will get to know something that can make your life better? More blood has been lost in the name of religion than in wars. People read pieces of literature that preach peace and salvation and yet indulge in bizarre deeds. People love to talk about morals, values, ethics, and rules, they talk about eradicating hunger, and violence while eating a full 5-course meal and designing weapons of mass destruction, with vengeance in their minds. People talk about mental peace and acceptance and yet don't blink once before bullying someone, before mentally harassing and abusing someone. The path that leads to peace treaties and compromises is often wet with the blood of those who fought for the ones who manipulate, preach and dictate. How many years and experiences do humans need to learn to stop repeating their mistakes? How many more epidemics, and wars, are required for them to understand their purpose in life?

The instruments that are meant to save lives often end up taking a life. [Dr. Darshit Patel]

Humans talk about health and a better life, but do they ever think before breaking the red light, before eating something unhygienic just for satisfying their cravings, before giving in to their pleasures, before taking one more shot of vodka even when they are done, before denying to switch off their phones during take-offs? Humans talk about morality yet often choose lesser evil over greater evil to get out of a mess. Is it okay to take another life to save yours? Humans plan and they keep on planning all their lives… they plan pregnancy, they plan a vacation, they plan safety, they plan to speak the truth, they plan to give up their vices, they plan to prolong their life, they plan to praise the almighty, to sing a hymn… does it matter, do humans get everything they wish for?

Yes, the world is a wonderful place but is it a fair playground? Do you know how many tears, hopes, and heartbreaks go unnoticed in the crowd every day? Fast, shiny life but prolonged suffering [Dr.Darshit Patel]

How many lives have been lost till now due to things that are beyond our control? May it be due to natural calamities, pandemics, due to accidents, due to miscalculations, due to human errors, and negligence… are you in control? Why do you plan when actually nothing matters? The Gods and Goddesses, are they even looking over you? Do they feel sad? Does it break their heart when a child dies of hunger? So why are you fighting? Why are you putting in so much effort? Is it Man vs Man or should it be Man vs God? Who is your real enemy? Shouldn't you become as perfect as a God, as wise as the Angels, and as patient as the priests rather than looking for a new leader now and then for solving your issues?

विमूढा नानुपश्यन्ति पश्यन्ति ज्ञानचक्षुष: || 10 ||

[Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 15, verse 10]
The ignorant can never perceive the soul while it resides in their body while enjoying senses and material nature; nor do they perceive it during its departure. But those who possess the eyes of knowledge can behold it.
Maybe the ocean understands us better than most humans, at least it returns to shore again no matter how much harm we cause. To be at Peace is to be able to listen to the sound of waves calling you, for once and forever. [Dr. Darshit Patel]

Widen your Gaze, look into yourself, accept yourself and maybe there is a chance that you might get through Life. Make knowledge the power again, take control. Understand before you act, think about the consequences. Perfect yourselves rather than complain, love passionately rather than being insecure, and fight for your rights rather than fighting for violating somebody else’s rights. Maybe it's time to open your eyes. Do not wish for the fruit of your deeds, it was never meant for you. Struggle to bring about a change for the betterment of the generations ahead.
