After a pregnant woman developed an addiction to eating hair, doctors in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, performed surgery to remove 2.5 kg of the woman's hair from her stomach.
After becoming pregnant, the 25-year-old woman acquired an odd obsession with eating hair. She used to eat hair—her own and others'—that was lying around.
The woman stopped eating hair after giving birth, but she continued to vomit uncontrollably and had discomfort in her stomach for no apparent reason. The woman was brought to a neighboring hospital by her relatives, but the initial treatment did not provide any comfort.
The cause for the stomach pain was a surprise to the physicians when she was taken to a private hospital in Chitrakoot.
Because she ate hair, there was a mass of hair all the way to the bottom of her stomach. The woman might have perished in that circumstance. according to Dr. Nirmala Gehani of the Janaki Kund Hospital in Chitrakoot.Dr. Nirmala Gehani of the Janaki Kund Hospital in Chitrakoot.
A few inches of hair, roughly 2.5 kg in weight, were taken out of the woman's stomach following a 45-minute procedure.
As per the physician's diagnosis, the lady was afflicted with Trichophagia, an uncommon medical disorder characterized by recurrent eating, sucking on, or chewing of hair. This is an extremely dangerous illness that can cause mortality, digestive system obstructions, and malnourishment.
