Awkward dating encounters are often shared on social media, and one recent story has taken the internet by storm, where a woman in Atlanta, known as EquanaB on TikTok, went viral for sharing her date night experience after ordering 48 oysters.

The Oyster Extravaganza:

According to the New York Post, EquanaB shared her experience of a date gone wrong in a video viewed more than one million times. In the clip, she revealed that at the end, when the check came, her date, who she said only ordered one drink, told her that he was going to the bathroom but never returned. The woman had a date at Fontaine's Oyster House in Atlanta, Georgia, reputed for its top-notch oysters. After meeting him, she ordered one plate of oysters and then three more. She consumed 48 oysters and didn't hold back from loudly slurping each one. "When the fourth one came out, he was looking at me crazy; I didn't give a f***. I had to. It was so good," she said in the clip, as per the Post.

When the bill arrived, EquanaB's date, who had only ordered a drink, made an excuse to use the restroom and never returned, abandoning her with a $184 bill. As per The Independent, she said, "Why the f*** [he] said he was going to the bathroom and never come back? I'm like, hold on. It's been 10, 20, 30 minutes."

She revealed in the video that though she paid the bill, she still confronted him via text message, expressing her shock at his abrupt departure. Her date offered to send her money via Cash App, but the damage was already done.

Internet's reaction:

The story gained immense attention on social media, with people divided on who was at fault. Some defended the date, criticizing EquanaB for her massive oyster order and her noisy slurping. Others empathized with her for her unexpected abandonment. "I don't know what's worse, the 48 oysters as an APPETIZER or the insane slurping and smacking," one user commented on her clip. Some users, however, didn't blame the woman for enjoying herself. "I keep coming back to this video because the oysters look so good," said one person.

The general manager of Fontaine's Oyster House, Kelcey Flanagan, commented on the incident, saying it was not an unusual occurrence at the restaurant. She even recounted instances of patrons ordering six dozen oysters. According to Flanagan, this oyster indulgence was "nothing new."

On MedBound (a medical networking platform for medical professionals and students), the founder and CEO of MedBound, Dr. Munish Kumar, MD, an attending neonatologist, shared his opinion on the viral date night story. He remarked on a lighter note, "God save the humanity!"
