The Ministry of Ayush highlighted the vital role of Ayurveda and other traditional Indian medicine systems in modern nutrition at the Ayush Pavilion during World Food India 2024. Held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from 19th to 21st September 2024, the event attracted global stakeholders and showcased Ayurveda Aahar, a concept that merges ancient knowledge with modern food solutions.
On the opening day, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, emphasized Ayurveda’s growing influence in global wellness. He stated, “Ayurveda Aahar offers scientifically proven dietary solutions that promote holistic health. World Food India is the ideal platform to introduce this ancient wisdom to the world.”
Key attractions at the pavilion included a special exhibit focusing on Ayurvedic dietary products designed to address lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. Visitors explored how Ayurvedic ingredients can be incorporated into daily meals for enhanced well-being.
Additionally, live demonstrations and consultations with Ayurvedic nutrition experts provided personalized dietary advice tailored to individual body types (Prakriti) as per Ayurvedic principles. The pavilion also saw discussions between public and private sector representatives on fostering partnerships to advance research and development in Ayurveda Aahar.
A live Yoga demonstration further emphasized the interconnectedness of Ayurveda and physical well-being. The pavilion highlighted the potential for traditional Indian food practices to offer solutions to global health challenges, aligning with the event's broader focus on sustainable and health-focused food innovation.
During the event, the Ayush Ministry announced plans to establish standardized guidelines for Ayurvedic foods and to collaborate with international regulatory bodies to bring Ayurveda Aahar to the global market. “Ayurveda has the power to reshape the global food industry with sustainable, preventive health solutions,” said Kotecha.
World Food India 2024, organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, drew participants from across the food and agriculture sectors.
