Goals of Terna Dental College & Hospital
1) To be a center of excellence in dental education, innovation, research, and treatment for oral healthcare globally.
(In my experience as a former student, this goal was achieved by the college. The college offers various courses starting from undergraduate BDS to postgraduate MDS to Ph.D. Consequently, when it comes to teaching, there has never been a compromise. The professors are one of the top dentists in India, so the knowledge and experience they share are very important for a student who has begun his/her career. Even when it comes to research work students are always motivated and encouraged by the professors.)
2) To impart and promulgate top-class training and scientific temperament to its students making them professionally competent and compassionate healthcare providers and leaders.
3) Optimal health promotion for the population through community outreach programs, social work, and implementation of dental and public health practices of the highest standard with a passion to care for the underserved.
(Various health care camps are conducted by the college throughout the year. These camps are conducted not only in urban areas but also in the outskirts where dental awareness is needed the most. NSS camps are also organized by the college where students and interns of the college participate.)
Interesting points about the college from a Former Undergraduate
The college was established in 2002 and is a part of the Terna Public Charitable Trust, established in 1980. Since then, it has been among the top dental colleges in India.
The infrastructure of the college is well-designed for students as well as for patients. Lecture halls are well-equipped with boards, podiums, projection screens, and LCD projectors.
Other than curricular activities, various extracurricular activities are conducted by the college throughout the year. One of which is RAZZ (college fest), it is celebrated for an entire week, and various events are conducted by the student council and staff members. The events range from conducting seminars, and presentations, to conducting sports events. It is interesting to note that not only students but also the teaching staff and non-teaching staff have an active participation. It is a great opportunity for students to participate and showcase their talents.
Vistas is another event at college that is important to me. These are scientific conferences where the most profound national and international speakers come over and share their knowledge and experiences in the field of dentistry. Various workshops, hands-on trainings are conducted for students not only from Terna but also from different dental colleges. Students also get the opportunity to participate in intercollege paper and poster presentation competitions.
