About Ahmadu Bello University:
The University of Northern Nigeria was established on October 4, 1962, and is a federal research university situated in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. It was later renamed Ahmadu Bello University (ABU).
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has three primary campuses located in Zaria, namely Samaru, Kongo, and the School of Basic Studies in Funtua. The Samaru campus accommodates administrative offices, as well as research and teaching facilities for several faculties including sciences, social sciences, arts and languages, education, environmental design interior, engineering, medical sciences, and agricultural sciences. At ABU's Kongo campus, the Faculties of Law and Administration are located. The Faculty of Administration comprises four departments: Accounting, Business Administration, Local Government and Development Studies, and Public Administration. The university is also in charge of numerous other institutions and programs that are located in other places.
This university was named after the first premier of Northern Nigeria, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, who was the Sardauna of Sokoto.
Sardauna of Sokoto University offers an extensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as vocational and remedial programs, and associate degrees. Of all the faculties in the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences stands out in many ways. Situated between the College of Medicine and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the three-story building edifice announces itself from a distance.
Students are expected to obtain a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree after spending five academic sessions in the faculty. The first year comprises basic sciences (chemistry, biology, and physics), courses on psychology, English, and communication skills, as well as an introductory course centered on knowledge of pharmacy practice and jurisprudence.
The faculty is famous for its round-the-clock academic schedule. Six days a week, eight hours a day, students are either in the laboratories or in the lecture rooms. The lecturers take pride in the fact that graduates from this faculty are well-drilled to withstand the storms of the outside world.
The population of students ranges from eight hundred to one thousand and comprises students from every part of the country and neighboring African countries. The faculty has a rich history of academic excellence and impressive alumni who are making giant strides all around the country and beyond.
Eligibility for getting admission to the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria
Students are enrolled through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board exams (JAMB) and the University entrance exams. Applicants need to have a minimum of "credit" in the five science subjects and perform excellently in the JAMB and the University's entrance exams to gain admission into the faculty.
