Air Fryers, Microwaves Can Cause Food Poisoning

A US health agency cautioned against the detrimental effects caused due to usage of air fryers & microwaves for cooking frozen, preserved food, which may contain Salmonella, making it toxiferous.

New-found research has stated that the frozen stuffed chicken goods cooked/baked in an air fryer or microwave can lead to food poisoning due to the presence of bacteria Salmonella. The data, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), proclaimed that cooking 'breaded'(i.e. breadcrumbed) foods like stuffed chicken with cheese & broccoli, blue chicken cordon & Kyiv chicken, ought to be baked/broiled in a conventional oven considering they possibly might have raw chicken within it.

The study reported that frozen stuffed chicken products have frequently been a suspect in salmonella epidemics as they are quasi-cooked before being crumbed, which often gives them the appearance of being cooked.

Regardless of appearing cooked, these food products are required to be heated at an internal temperature of 74 degrees Celsius. Manufacturers & producers have put into motion the process of inclusion of labels since 2006 to categorically specify these food products as raw & cautioned against via air fryers/microwaves to prepare them. They emphasized using conventional ovens instead for their preparation.

The recorded data have alleged that a myriad of the frozen stuffed chicken food products inhold bacteria, especially Salmonella, that most of the time are not snuffed out due to the temperature not being adequately high. The majority of the appliances warm up one portion of the product while the other, which is frozen, & might contain salmonella bacteria, gets partially heated or remained unthawed. This may lead to bacterial infection that effectuates a person's GI tract.

In the US, according to the CDC documented records, among 4,142 individuals, 2,546 people cooked/baked frozen stuffed chicken food products at their homes. Among the 2,546 people, 29% used microwaves, 14% used toaster ovens, 30% of people used air fryers, & 4% used other equivalent appliances. A large number of these appliances do not have the necessary heat needed to eliminate Salmonella.

CDC also reported that in the year 2021, 12 cases of hospitalization & 36 congruent infections were recorded in the United States. The bacteria-linked disorders/diseases are the root cause of 26,500 hospitalizations, 420 deaths & over 1.35 million infections in the United States every year.

An additional study which was recently released by The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) in 2021, reported the first Salmonella outbreak with 44 outbreak-related patients admitted in Finland, whose cause was found to be frozen tomato cubes.
