  1. Where were you born and Where are you residing now?

    I was born in the Lakeside City of Kisumu. I currently live in Nairobi, Kenya.

  2. What do you do?

    Professionally, I am a Research Scientist, more specifically a Genetic Engineer. I am passionate about immunogenetics, especially CRISPR technology, Malaria Research, and stem cell therapy. Out of the academic arena, I want to change my community through advocacy at the grassroots level. My organization, Raising heARTs Foundation aims to identify and nurture talent among poverty-stricken children, allowing them to earn from their talents. I am a poet and writer, and I also paint for fun! I love music, so much.

  3. What’s the best part of your profession? What made you choose this profession?

    The best part of my profession is that I get to learn something new every single day, literally. I also get to experiment and come up with feasible solutions that test my hypotheses. I chose this profession because I saw its potential in achieving my goals.

  4. Do you like reading? What was the last thing you read?

    I love reading because it is like getting into someone's world. The last thing I read was a paper on Bacteriophages.

  5. What is your favorite dish?

    I love Ugali (a Kenyan dish), beef, and kale.

  6. How would your friend describe you?

    That I am an assertive person who is very stubborn at heart. Gives his whole heart to things and people he likes.

    Plant Biochemistry

  11. What’s something you wish to change about the world?

    I would remove all the differences that divide people: religion, country borders, politics.. all of it.

  14. What are you passionate about?

    I am passionate about leaving the world better than I found it and making life easier for those who come after me. That is why I am passionate about eradicating malaria, dispensing and sharing scientific knowledge, and philanthropy in general.

  15. Best/memorable moment?

    When I received my graduation result.

  16. What do you love to do in your leisure time?

    I mostly listen to psychology talks and debates. I love listening to Jordan Peterson, Esther Perel, and Frank Yeomans among others. You would also find me painting or listening to music in my free time.

  17. What do you hate the most?

    I hate time wasting.

  18. How do you keep yourself calm before an exam or any event?

    I will think about anything else except the exam I am about to take. Other times I even listen to music or play games before the exam. I used to do this a lot during my undergraduate.

  19. If given a choice, what alternate career would you have opted for?

    I probably would go for law. I am good at communication and effortlessly apply pathos, logos, and ethos to any situation.

  20. What is your dream travel destination?

    I have always wanted to go to Maldives.

  21. Where would you like to work in the future?

    I would like to work at CDC or NIH.
