The girl from Gujarat, who had previously passed the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) with an amazing 705 out of 720, was subsequently disqualified from college after failing the Class XII (science) board test. She has since failed further exams as well.
Because it was implausible that a NEET topper could fail board exams, her score had generated an uproar.
In the board exams held in March, she did not pass the chemistry and physics papers.
She then took the June supplementary tests offered by the Gujarat Board to individuals who had failed up to three papers. She was not able to pass physics in Class 12, hence she has now failed. In the retake exam, she received a score of barely 22, as opposed to 21 on her first try in physics.
On her second try, she received exactly the passing score of 33 in chemistry. In the March exam, she received only thirty-one marks in chemistry. According to sources, the results of the supplementary exam raised serious questions about the accuracy of her NEET score.
"At a time when irregularities in NEET were pursued by the apex court, this case can't be ignored. It is highly improbable for a student who can't get passing marks in state board exams to get one of the highest scores in this highly competitive national entrance test for medicine. The case must definitely be probed," a state education fraternity member stated.
Her NEET and HSC science mark papers, which had the same first, middle, and last names, started making the rounds on social media after the center and city-wise NEET-UG results were recently announced. The tremendous disparity between the two outcomes—the NEET score and the board exam result of just 352 out of 700—got a lot of attention.
After a Supreme Court-appointed commission ruled on one of the test's questions, her NEET score was eventually lowered to 700. Her overall NEET score of 99.94 places her in the top 99.89th percentile for physics, 99.14th percentile for chemistry, and 99.14th percentile for biology. With such a high score, admission to a prestigious medical college is usually guaranteed. The girl did not meet the requirements for admission because she failed her Class XII examinations.
