The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has been making India proud for ages. AIIMS Delhi has managed to do it once again as they performed the rarest of the rare surgery on the 'grape-sized' heart of a 28-week foetus.

What makes the surgery even more impressive was that it was performed in just 90 seconds.

The surgery was applauded by Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The surgery is called "balloon dilation" in the obstructed valve of the heart. A needle is inserted in the heart of the fetus using ultrasound and the obstructed valve is unclogged.

The pregnant mother was admitted to the hospital after three previous miscarriages. However, after knowing about the current pregnancy and the child's heart condition, the parents consented to the surgical procedure.

The surgery is extremely technically challenging as the foetus is very small and it has chances of moving as well.
