A doctor at Delhi’s Moolchand Hospital successfully removed a Rs. 5 coin from a young boy's throat.
According to the sources, the boy is identified as Shubham Mishra, son of Umashankar Mishra. The boy accidentally swallowed a Rs. 5 coin a few days ago. However, the boy showed no symptoms, an X-ray disclosed the presence of a Rs. 5 coin in the boy’s stomach. The boy was taken to Delhi's Moolchand Hospital, where a medical team led by Dr. Rishi Raman quickly initiated action.
The medical team administered anesthesia to the boy and by using the Roth net procedure they successfully removed the Rs.5 coin from the boy’s body to avert probable tragedy. After the successful removal of the coin, the hospital noted a Serpiginous slough-covered ulcer at the site of the lodged coin.
Moolchand Healthcare on the X platform wrote that Dr. Rishi Raman successfully removed a lodged coin from a young boy's throat.
The hospital also shared a video of the boy's father Umashankar expressing thankfulness towards the doctor. In the video, Umashankar said that his son swallowed an Rs. 5 coin three to four days ago. They were very tense. So they contacted Dr. Rishi Raman, who removed the coin from their son's throat. He also said that they were anxious that they weren't able to have food. But, Dr. Raman removed the coin from their son's throat within 15 minutes.
A similar incident happened in February this year when doctors at Delhi's Ganga Ram Hospital removed 39 coins and 37 magnets from a man’s intestine. The patient is a 26-year-old schizophrenia patient, who allegedly swallowed the magnets and coins under the presumption that zinc helps in body-building.
