The doctor said that when he introduced the speculum, he could see that it was an insect, and said he had to remove something like a cockroach. It was unclear how the cockroach entered the woman's body and how long it had been there.

Dr. Marco said that during vaginal examinations, it is common to discover condoms and sex toys, but finding a cockroach was a whole other level. In an earlier case, a South African Hospital removed 24 fritters from people's ears, and in another case, doctors found a spider in a woman's ear.

Insects that get into body parts can be dangerous. They can scratch sensitive tissues such as the vagina or ear, which leads to an infection. The warning signs of the issue include swelling or pain in the affected area and rashes. Dr. Marco said that the symptoms of vaginal infection include bleeding, swelling, rash, and abnormal or foul-smelling discharge. The doctor instructed women to always consult their physician, if in any uncertainty.
