A 24-year-old optometrist met with a tragic accident and lost her life. This incident happened on Saturday evening in sector 55 in Faridabad, when the doctor was returning from work, a speeding tractor crashed with her scooter from behind, and thereafter she was run over by the tractor.
The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Dr. Izma Saifi, an optometrist from Faridabad. According to the police, around 4 pm, Dr. Izma was on her way from her work at the hospital. Her father Parvez Saifi had been riding a bike a few meters behind her. A speeding tractor-driver allegedly crashed into Izma’s scooter from behind. Izma fell off her scooter and was run over by the tractor.
Dr. Izma’s father, along with local police, immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital. However, the doctors at the hospital declared she was dead upon arrival.
ASI Anil Kumar said that the indicted driver had escaped from the location but passersby at the spot were able to note down the registration number of the vehicle and passed it on to the police.
The Father of the deceased filed a complaint to the police, and based on that the police arrested the accused on Sunday. Parvez in his complaint said that the driver was being driven rashly. Instantly after the accident, the driver escaped from the spot. He also demanded stringent legal action against the driver.
The accused driver was identified as Parambir. A case was filed against him at Sector 58 police station under the IPC section 304A (causing death due to rash or negligent act) and section 279 (rash driving in a public way).
The accused driver was apprehended on Sunday and produced before the court on the same day. On the same day, he was released on bail.
ASI Anil Kumar said that the accused confessed to having driven negligently. A probe into the case is in progress.
