Hyderabad is seeing a rise in popularity of ganja-laced chocolates posing as ayurvedic remedies, which are produced in Uttar Pradesh. According to ToI, the chocolates are presented in a stylish package and have the words "Ayurvedic Aushadh" printed on the wrappers.
Large quantities of chocolates laced with drugs were taken by Cyberabad police on Sunday from a Petbasheerabad kirana shop. 14 grams of cannabis were packed in every 100 grams of chocolate that was seized, according to the package. It was also indicated on the label that the chocolates, when diluted with water, might be taken twice a day to relieve indigestion and other digestive problems.
Pivesh Pandey, a UP resident, owned Komal Kirana store, where Cyberabad Special Operation Team detectives searched based on a tip-off and discovered multiple packets of these chocolates. Authorities reported that the company had at least 200 chocolates seized.
The chocolate cover also says that you can mix it with water and drink it twice a day to relieve indigestion and other stomach-related problems.
Pandey informed the authorities over the course of the investigation that this "Ayurvedic Aushadh" is widely accessible throughout Uttar Pradesh and is also used as a diabetes medicine.
"The store owner belongs to Prayagraj district in UP, and has been living in the city for the past few years. For the past six months, he has been selling these chocolates at his kirana store," a police official from Cyberabad stated.
The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau has notified the state police agencies about various private companies in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh that are involved in the production of chocolates containing ganja.
