In a tragic incident, five family members, including a child, were killed on Friday in a collision between a truck and an SUV in Rajasthan's Bikaner.
The accident took place near Naurangdesar-Rasissar on the Bharatmala Expressway, and the impact of the collision was such that parts of the SUV spread across the road.
The accident took place around 5 a.m. on Bharatmala Road near Rasisar village, which comes under the Nokha police station area. The Nokha police station has identified the deceased as Dr. Prateek (35), his wife Dr. Hetal (35), their daughter Nyasa, Community Health Officer Dr. Pooja, and her husband Karan. Tragically, all of the five people died on the spot. Unfortunately, Nyasa was only 18 months old.
The doctors were residents of Kutch, Gujarat, and were working in government hospitals. The accident happened when they were on their way back from Jammu and Kashmir, where they had gone for a trip.
The Superintendent of Police (SP), Bikaner, Tejswani Gautam, said that the victims hail from the Kutch district of Gujarat. Their family members have been informed about the mishap, and after the post-mortem, the bodies will be handed over to them.
The dead bodies of the deceased have been placed in the mortuary of the government hospital in Nokha.
An official said that it has not yet been ascertained where they were headed, but it appears that the deceased had come to attend some function in the Sriganganagar district. All of them were returning home when the accident occurred.
The disastrous collision left the car completely shattered, and many of its engine parts spread all over the road.
The Bikaner police stated that they could not immediately discover the cause behind the collision but emphasized that only a thorough probe would be able to establish the reason behind the fatal collision. People passing through the highway had informed police about the accident, following which a team was sent to the scene. Now, the police are investigating the cause of the accident.
This tragic accident emphasized the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and safety measures on highways.
