A mother allegedly cut the throats of her newborn twins after her husband denied paternity, resulting in a horrific murder that shocked the border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.
The man, who works in Saudi Arabia, went home three months ago after a long absence. Soon after, after his wife gave birth to twins, he went straight to the police and said the kids were "from an illegitimate relationship".
Fearing difficulties, the mother slaughtered her newborns in a neighboring field, according to the officials.
At first, the suspect's involvement in the horrific killings was suspected by the locals. However, his wife admitted to the crime while being questioned by the authorities. The police confirmed that she has been charged with homicide.
"The mother killed her twin baby daughters," police stated in a statement that was later released. The offense has been admitted by her.
Locals urged the mother to receive the worst punishment possible after the incident caused fear in the community.
