Kerala Health Minister Veena George has taken measures to provide health services to the pilgrims who are visiting Sabarimala temple this year. Around 30 million pilgrims from various states of India are expected every year. This year, more importance is given to infection control, food safety, and immediate medical assistance.
Special wards are established in four districts—Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, and Alappuzha—to meet the medical requirements of the pilgrims.
To provide immediate medical services, emergency medical supplies will be available at key locations such as Sanidhanam, Pamba, Nilakkal, Charalmedu, Neelimala, and Appachimedu. While some of these medical supplies have already been available from November 1 in key areas, the remaining locations will have these supplies from November 15. Moreover, operation theaters have been set up at Pamba and Sannidhanam to handle any immediate emergency medical procedures.
Every year, around 30 million devotees visit Sabarimala, and it is one of the largest religious gatherings in India. This season typically lasts for several weeks and attracts people from various states.
Special wards and dispensaries are set up near pilgrimage sites to offer immediate medical assistance and diagnose common health conditions like palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pain, and even heart attacks experienced by pilgrims.
Veena George, the Health Minister of Kerala, stated that providing excellent healthcare services to all visitors during the Sabarimala pilgrimage is a top priority. She aims to guarantee their safety and address any medical issues promptly.
This arrangement of special wards, operation theaters, and medical supplies near the pilgrimage site has been greatly appreciated by devotees and healthcare professionals. It reflects Kerala's Health Minister's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the millions of pilgrims visiting the temple.
With the approaching pilgrimages in Kerala, the Health Minister is taking steps to provide healthcare facilities to the devotees. Due to the massive approach of pilgrims, there are chances of the spread of infection and other health hazards. So providing health clinics, medical supplies, and operation theaters in the state will ensure the well-being of the pilgrims.
