In order to offer surgical materials and medications at 50–80% lower costs, KGMU plans to operate a drugstore next week through its hospital revolving fund (HRF).
The medical store would be helpful to patients receiving treatment at KGMU as well as OPD. It is anticipated that 7,000–8,000 OPD patients will profit from this initiative each day.
Prior to this, the KGMU chose to open a new store under the HRF after a private medical store that had been operating next to the OPD for almost 30 years ended its contract.
Medication will be available at this new store for between 50% and 80% less than usual costs.
The HRF chief, Dr. Anoop Verma, verified that the store will carry about 5,000 different kinds of medications and surgical supplies. Next week is when the store is supposed to open.
