A shocking incident of medical negligence has come to light in Kozhikode, Kerala, where a fake doctor, Abu Abraham Luke, was arrested on Monday for his role in the death of 60-year-old Vinod Kumar. The victim's son, Dr. Ashwin Pachatt, an alumnus of AIIMS Delhi, took to social media to share the traumatic experience.
Vinod Kumar was admitted to TMH hospital in Kottakkadavu, near Kadalundi, on September 23, after suffering severe angina and breathlessness. Despite efforts, he succumbed to his condition. Dr. Ashwin Pachatt claimed that the hospital's Resident Medical Officer (RMO), Abu Abraham Luke, misled him about his father's treatment.
In a heart-wrenching social media post, Dr. Ashwin revealed that Abu told him his father was brought in late and there was little he could do. Believing Abu, Dr. Ashwin accepted the fate, only to discover later that Abu had incomplete medical education.
TMH hospital manager Manoj Balan admitted that they failed to verify Abu's educational qualifications. Abu provided a fake registration number, and the hospital failed to authenticate it. Moreover, Abu was not a regular employee, working only two days a week.
