Mr. Atul Sharma, a constable who was posted in Narmadhapuram, Madhya Pradesh, has become an internet sensation overnight. The police officer who proclaims himself to be a self-educated snake rescuer was seen in a trending video circulating on the internet executing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on a non-poisonous snake. Apparently, on October 26th, this week, the constable acknowledged a complaint from an inhabitant of Narmadhapuram that a snake was spotted in a residential colony. The snake had taken shelter in the conduit, following the failed attempts of the locals who tried to remove the snake from the pipe. The people then poured water spiked with pesticide, which rendered the reptile unconscious.
Upon notification of the above incident, the self-proclaimed snake rescuer cop arrives. In the video, it was seen that the cop, after examining the snake, starts blowing air into the snake’s oral cavity. The constable then washes the snake with water upon suggestions from the onlookers, as the snake was sodden in pesticide-mixed water. After a few attempts, the snake was seen to be moving. The audience at the incident was seen hailing and praising the cop after encountering the resuscitation that supposedly saved the snake. The video was uploaded to X by Mr. Anurag Dawry. The video has gotten many comments welcoming and celebrating the heroic efforts of the cop.
When asked by a reporter, the cop announced that he observed such stunts on the Discovery Channel, instructed himself to save snakes, and claimed to have rescued nearly five hundred snakes. However, a veterinarian argued that traditional CPR is ineffective on snakes, suggesting that the snake's regaining consciousness was probably coincidental.
Nevertheless, the cop has become a viral and trending animal lover following his brave effort to save the snake. Although his intentions were commendable, it raises a few eyebrows, as few cybernauts have registered ridiculous remarks.
